With London Fashion Week looming, the recent InStyle Awards at London's Sketch put guests in the right frame of mind. Concorde Media organised the InStyle Best Beauty Buys and here Concorde MD Chrissie Ferber takes us behind the event.  Sat Bal (5 Feb '09)

Background

We have been organising the InStyle Best Beauty Buys for the last four years. The first event took place at Il Bottaccio and then we moved to Sketch for the third year running for 2009. It was imperative that the visuals of the winning brands looked fantastic and Sketch was the right venue because I think it has the best projection system in London.


Trials

We had an issue with the fact that, on the same night, Elle magazine had organised an event at H&M's flagship store in Regents Street so celebrities were invited to both!

However, we had a good turnout which included Lauren Laverne, Jemma Kidd (below) and Camilla Rutherford (left).

Suppliers


Projection was handled in-house at Sketch and the  AV contributed to an extremely slick awards ceremony.

Paul Thomas provided the stunning red flowers which stood tall in the Persian Vases. (Pic left)

Catering took place in-house. As usual, the team at Sketch provided a fabulous selection of canapés which included mini hot dogs, slow cooked salmon with Jacobs sauce, mini beef and veggie burgers, vegetable tempura, skewers of chicken and prawns with coriander dip, black croque monsier followed by chocolate marshmallows & sketch macaroons.

Guests sipped champagne, red & white wine, fruit salad vodka cocktails and soft drinks.

As always, we had to ensure that the budget was spent in the right places. We made certain that our client received the best event without cutting any corners.

At the end of the party guests left with fantastic goodie bags filled with all the winning Best Beauty brands.

Our client was extremely happy and we received fantastic feed back from the guests who attended.
