Event Concept on the move   (Suppliers)

The close working ties between expanding production company Event Concept and floral design company Veevers Carter (above) see the pair moving to adjoining warehouse and office space exceeding 30,000 sq ft. The new location is a stone’s throw from their existing premises in Bermondsey, South London. Following refurbishment, the businesses relocate in January 2008. (Aug 07)

Originally specialists in event lighting, Event Concept has evolved over 13 years to now offer an integrated event design and full technical production service, often incorporating innovative creations from Veevers Carter. Ming Veevers Carter, managing director of Veevers Carter says: “There is real value in both design teams being able to work side by side. It means the overall design is cohesive and the client is able to visualise the whole picture from one source.”

Developing new services and extending the production team has meant Event Concept has had to consistently increase staff over the last three years. It has also invested in the latest lighting, sound and A/V technologies, expanding the equipment warehouse.

“For the last two years we have been asked to produce as many live communication events as stand-alone lighting jobs,” says Mark Beaver, managing director of Event Concept. “It is important that our own designers and producers are delivering these large-scale projects and, where practical, we are using our own kit. We need space to continue to develop these broader services as well as to store the equipment we need to deliver them.”

Moving into the wider production arena has also meant that the company needs to accommodate a growing collection of staging, furniture and decorative accessories. The move will finally allow Event Concept to bring the entire company together under one roof by also relocating the set and staging department which is currently based at a separate warehouse in Brixton.
