Arena's Concert Lift           (Industry)

Birthdays rarely come this public but Nelson Mandela celebrated his 90th at the 46664 charity concert in London’s Hyde Park with a spectacular show featuring artists from all over the World and 60,000 fans joining in their appreciation of the great man’s achievements. (7 July'08)

Arena Seating was on hand to ensure that the much-loved elder statesman and his VIP guests had the perfect vantage point from their grandstand to enjoy the evening.

Adjacent to the huge stage, Arena Seating installed a bespoke, three tiered platform. It comprised a disabled viewing area with access ramps on level one, sponsors and VIP guest seating on level two and VVIP seating at the top level, complete with a cover, to host Mr Mandela, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and guests.

As an additional facility, Arena was asked to install a lift at the rear of the grandstand, making it easy for the 90 year Mr Mandela to access the structure with minimal effort, particularly important as he gave a speech, which received a rapturous reception, from the stage in the middle of the event.

“It was a privilege to work with 46664, RW Productions and Live Nation to contribute to an event of this calibre for such a great man," said Arena Seating's sales and marketing director. "With the highest level of production applied in all areas of the event for the prestigious live audience and under the eyes of the world’s media I was delighted that the Arena Seating team created a bespoke structure that fulfilled all of its functions and looked great.”
