What do TV programmes Big Brother, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, and Gladiators have in common? All have hired Thorns’ stylish furniture or catering equipment to embellish their sets.

Thorns Group Sales Director Clair Whitecross, said: “It is wonderful. We are getting a great reputation in the television world for supplying a huge range of equipment from elegant chairs and tables to bars, desks and even a red carpet for the recent TV British Soap Awards ceremony.

“I think TV prop departments like the fact that we have a huge range of different stock almost instantly available. We bend over backwards to meet their requirements and we are being rewarded with repeat contracts.”

Thorns’ credits extend to two bars for a marquee in Emmerdale to 120 modern black and chrome conference chairs to seat the celebrity audience in ITV’s An Evening with Neil Diamond while a Thorns' desk featured in the mock version of The Apprentice.

Thorns sleek conference chairs took centre stage for the last two Big Brother finals, making eviction a stylish prospect for the remaining contestants. The hit BBC Saturday night show Hunting for Oliver required 200 gilt banqueting chairs for two and a half months to seat its audience and Thorns won the battle to  supply chairs and tables to the Sky One Gladiators show.

The growth of television programme-making has spurred Thorns on to become a regular big player on the small screen. Bolstered by the Thorns’ Group range of designer floral arrangements, electrical supplies, plasma screens, carpeting and a specialist flooring range, it's a safe bet that the company will appear on a TV screen near you very soon.
