Hyatt's new heights        (Global Venues)

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts's expansion into China, India, Europe and the USA is to be  bolstered by its active launch programme in the coming year. The expansion across many of its dynamic brands aims to further establish the Hyatt group as a global hospitality leader.                   Bob Kang looks at the venue prospects ahead. (28 Oct '08)

Park Hyatt
Park Hyatt hotels are small and discreet, with a sophisticated residential style designed for the individual traveller seeking personal attention, unparalleled business amenities and luxurious facilities. Distinctive features include city-centre locations, gourmet dining, exceptional concierge services and meeting facilities for high-end personalised events.

Park Hyatt Beijing


Located in the centre of Beijing on the road to Tiananmen Square, this is the tallest skyscraper on the road set above “Park Life” - a high end retail area. Designed by  Super Potato, the hotel opened in September and the China Grill restaurant is already set to become one of the best dining experiences in Beijing. A bar is located on the top of the hotel with an alfresco fire place for winter drinks. John Portman is the architect behind this stunning, new Park Hyatt.

Park Hyatt Shanghai 


Opened in October 2008 and is now the highest hotel in the world. Designed by Tony Chi, key features include: an “overflowing” bath, one of the biggest rain shower units of any hotel in the world and in a modern Chinese style. The entrance to the hotel is through a traditional Chinese zig zag series of courtyards which meet a 20 metre high lobby. There are special family rooms at the bottom of the hotel for easy access. The hotel’s restaurant, 100 Century Avenue will be one of the biggest restaurants in the world and, spanning the 91st to 93rd floor, is also the highest restaurant in the world. Seating is available for 300 people in what is set to become one of the buzziest restaurants in the world.



Park Hyatt Istanbul–Maçka Palas                               
Maçka Palas was built in 1922 and is soon to become home to Park Hyatt Istanbul-Maçka Palas following the hotel’s opening in November 2008. Ideally located in the fashionable Nişantaşi residential and shopping district, the hotel uniquely combines the historic architecture of an Art Deco building with innovative interior design.

The stylish 90-room hotel houses the most spacious rooms in town (average size of 59sqm) equipped with the very latest technology. Each guestroom features an oversized wet room offering five different bathing experiences! 25 rooms include an authentic Turkish bath, complete with heated stone seat. The separate dressing and vanity area features a second sink with filtered hot and cold water on tap, and 24 rooms offer a refrigerated cosmetics and medicine cabinet to keep important lotions and potions cool and refreshing. Additional facilities include a multi-level pool/terrace/bar area, featuring wild bamboo, private cabanas and a meandering stream; and Spa, available exclusively for hotel guests, with separate male and female sections featuring two steam baths, three luxurious treatment rooms and a relaxation room.



Park Hyatt Jeddah
Opening February 2009, this will be a spa and conference resort at the Equestrian Club on the Corniche of Jeddah. An oasis of serenity and contemporary elegance, the hotel is situated just minutes away from the business district, enjoying a prime location nestled within uniquely landscaped gardens and exclusive spa and recreational facilities blessed by the breeze of the Red Sea. This hotel has been under development for the last 3 years. Facilities include a 50,000 square foot spa for men and one for women; an equestrian centre; several swimming pools; billiards rooms; squash; racquet ball; and a $50,000 tag for locals to join the members club.

Grand Hyatt

Grand Hyatt Doha

Old classic design meets contemporary technology at Grand Hyatt Doha. Opening in April 2009, and with views over PearlIsland it will be a prominent new hotel in Doha – a perfect stopover point for Britons travelling further east. As well as its 249 guest bedrooms, the hotel will boast a residential complex available for long term rentals adjacent to Grand Hyatt Doha, including 19 four-bedroom villas on two floors with fully fitted kitchen and maid’s room, 40 three-bedroom villas with fully fitted kitchen and maid's room, 34 two-bedroom villas with fully fitted kitchen, two swimming pools and private beach.




Grand Hyatt Moscow Residences & Spa
Moscow’s only international boutique hotel, Grand Hyatt Moscow Residences & Spa, is scheduled to open its doors in March 2009. This will be the highest hotel in Russia, and the ultra-luxurious accommodations will raise the bar across the local hospitality industry, by offering personalised service at a level above and beyond the expected.

Grand Hyatt Moscow Residences & Spa, owned by Mirax Group, will join Ararat Park Hyatt as Hyatt’s second property in Moscow. The hotel will feature a fabulous spa on the 60th and 61st floors.


Hyatt Regency
Hyatt Regency hotels feature classic, contemporary design and impressive business accommodation in leading business and group destinations. These hotels offer extensive meeting and conference centres, innovative guestroom designs, fully-equipped fitness centres, exceptional restaurants and bars, and Regency Clubs.

Hyatt Regency Dushanbe, Tajikistan
In keeping with the Hyatt Regency concept, this hotel will reflect the city’s flavour in the design of the 221 generously sized rooms and suites. Opening April 2009, the Hyatt Regency Dunshanbe will include over 1,400 square metres of conference and banqueting space suitable for accommodating a large variety of meeting requirements, from discrete board meetings to large banquets and State functions. The hotel will also feature a variety of food & beverage outlets including one restaurant, a lobby lounge and bar. Other facilities will include an extensive Spa, Health and Fitness Centre, pool and car parking space.

Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg, Russia
Located in the city centre on the bank of the River Iset, this hotel will open in February 2009. The hotel’s main restaurant will feature an open kitchen with wood-burning oven while the hotel’s Asian restaurant includes its own open kitchen alongside a charcoal grill, woks and steamers. Only the finest meat and seafood will be used, grilled to perfection. Situated on the ground floor, with a stunning centre-piece fireplace, the bar offers traditional European dining alongside an exquisite selection of spirits and cigars. At the heart of the hotel is the lobby lounge allowing visitors to relax in the urban buzz of an international hotel. The lobby lounge will serve European and Russian specialities and offer a unique selection of premium coffees and teas.

Andaz
A new hotel brand, introduced to the marketplace by Hyatt with the introduction of Andaz Liverpool Street, London in late 2007, Andaz delivers a ground-breaking hospitality experience that blends personal preferences with attentive and uncomplicated service.

Andaz West Hollywood
Opening January 2009, the new 14-storey icon of the West Hollywood hills will feature unique design details reflective of the locale, sophisticated and vibrant colour palettes, and smartly planned spaces with a flair for fun. The 258-roomed hotel will boast spectacular panoramic views of Hollywood Hills on one side and the Sunset Strip and downtown Los Angeles on the other. Visitors will experience West Hollywood culture, such as quotes from local neighborhood personalities, art installations from Los Angeles artists and impromptu music performances from some of the city’s up-and-coming musicians, at every turn. The heart and soul of Andaz West Hollywood’s hospitality experience is to provide friendly and caring service and inspiration for work, rest, and play.

Andaz 75 Wall Street
Soaring 42 stories above Lower Manhattan, 75 Wall Street is one of the latest creations of the award-winning architectural design firm The Rockwell Group. Design elements focus on contemporary and sophisticated details with simple yet personalized touches. The 250-suite Andaz hotel will share 360-degree views with 350 luxury condominiums. Situated at the prime location of Wall and Water Street bordered by Pearl Street
Andaz 75 Wall Street is the new focal point for casual conversations and impromptu fun at the epicenter of one of New York City’s fastest growing residential neighborhoods. The hotel is due to open in April 2009.
