Molton House (Venues- Clubs)

A Nick Valentine venue opening is reason enough to mobilise London's artistic élite, following the influence of his co-founded, members-only Cuckoo Club. And so it was, at the end of November '08, that a couple of hundred socialities sampled the launch of Valentine's 5-storey South Molton St townhouse - Molton House. Abigail Parkin 27 Jan '09
Ethos
Think theatrical drama, Moorish rich red, brown and orange tones and Swarovski crystal.
Layout
Ascend the ground greeting area to the
first floor which features a cocktail bar and seating area, as well as a
sunken DJ booth framed behind a stained glass peacock display.
The restaurant, situated on the 2nd floor, offers 32
covers and modern European cuisine.
Event clients and organisers note that the third floor holds a versatile events space suitable for private dining, creative presentations and screenings.
Parties hosted by Molton House include Simon le Bon's 50th birthday, Glam.com’s launch event and Spears Wealth Management's 10th anniversary party.
The basement of Molton House houses
a club which is open until 3.30am. A separate DJ booth, dancefloor,
reservable tables and state of the art sound system from Funktion 1
will help establish the club as a prime late night destination
venue.
Each of the floors and areas can be hired for private use, individually or collectively.
Design
The interior of Molton House has been designed by Nick Valentine in conjunction with Blacksheep, the team behind high profile lifestyle projects for diverse brands including Hermès (London headquarters), avant-garde Voyage (flagship store, Conduit St) and Inamo, the new state of art restaurant which opened on Wardour Street in last year.'
The décor is primarily defined by its sleek curves and a “Regal and Rhiad” influenced interior. Elaborate bespoke furniture is upholstered with faux snake, stingray and ostrich skin while embossed copper tables and rose tinted glass peepholes add further distinct detail.
The bespoke emphasis is defined by cut ice bars, an infinity keyhole and ceilings covered in crystalised metal.
Drinking & dining
General manager Mark Fairweather (formerly of Movida and Amika) has assembled some of the best mixologists working in London, headed by Andreas Tsanos
(Momo’s, Sketch and Hakkasan). Andreas has created an extensive
cocktail list, from pre-prohibition classics to contemporary favourites
all with an individual twist.
Finlay Logan is the Michelin trained head chef at Molton House, originally from Michelin starred restaurant, One Devonshire Gardens.
At
Molton House, Logan has created innovative main dishes such as the
‘Cepe fine tart with organic leaf orange and truffle braised veal ribs
with foie gras Chantilly’, and desserts which include the ‘confit of
butternut squash and goats cheese ice cream’.
