The Hoxton Pony, a split-level, 400 capacity bar and restaurant in the heart of Shoreditch.
The News
It's launching Comic, a new members' night, on Thursday 5th March 2009.
Top
selling British artist Just Jack (Starz in Their Eyes, Writer’s Block)
will headline with his unique brand of dance pop. The launch starts
at 6.30pm and continues until late.
The Initiative
The
Hoxton Pony’s Comic Card allows regulars, local notables and key
industry types to network at the venue every month, upon gaining
membership. Card holders get exclusive access to the Comic night which
promises a stimulating array of special guests and DJs at the event,
set to happen on the first Thursday of each month.
Comic
Card holders also receive tasty concessions on the night, including 50%
off drinks and complimentary canapés, as well as 15% off food and 25%
off drinks at all other times.
Concept, Theme & Visuals
Hoxton Pony owner Gerry Calabrese has reverted to vintage British themes and given them contemporary definition.
Designer Yanik Allard has harmonised the polar concepts of minimalism and warmth to produce a homely environment.
The
eccentric mix sees smoked mirrors sit alongside stainless steel and
high-gloss lacquer surfaces, while the seating is an arrangement of
banquettes and high tables.
Strong visuals feature throughout as exemplified by giant light-boxes portraying large scale photographs.
An interesting foil to the sleek environment is an 18th-century diorama, inhabited by stuffed animals and foliage., is a standout design detail amongst the predominantly crisp and contemporary interior.
Refreshment
Calabrese's
old friend Andy Pearson leads the bar team. His status as current UK
Bartenders Guild Nation Champion means that every one of the 200-plus
spirits are hand selected. A regularly changing menu will usher in the
seasons and all syrups, compotes and purees are freshly made on-site.
Organic, British produce is used in the 30 strong, original cocktail
menu.
