Commission's live music tours. Abigail Parkin 23 Jan'09
The
Forestry Commission is now a major promoter of summer concerts and,
with the addition of Delamere, Westonbirt and Cannock, concerts are
regularly staged at its seven sites.
Artists already confirmed
for the 2009 series of concerts around the seven venues are Paul
Weller, McFly, Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra,
Vanessa-Mae, Katherine Jenkins and Status Quo.
Pearce Hire
provided power for the first series of tours in 2000 and has been
providing power and lighting for eight years. One of the main
challenges of the tour is designing equipment that fits the wishes of
all artists and delivering a consistent production package at the
varied venues, meaning that lighting designers could work very easily
at all sites on the tour.
"Contracts relating to our Live
Music programme are usually awarded for two, three or four year
depending on the type of supplier," said Forestry Commission events
manager, Rachael Miller. "Our
competitive tender process is rigorous and we request lots of
background detail including financial history, company health and
safety policy, sample risk assessments and a proven commitment to
environmental sustainability. Pearce Hire's tender submission was
comprehensive and confirmed to us that they were the best supplier to
award the contract to."
