Prêt-à-Moët...

Fashion designer Gareth Pugh does the decent thing
Since
Moët & Chandon's wares are a staple part of celebrating it was only
natural that the brand toasted its own 10 years of sponsoring London
Fashion Week with customary aplomb. Sat Bal raises his glass to September's “Evening of the Moët Mirage”.
The
Moët Mirage installation saw thousands of helium balloons erupt into
the skies above Holland Park in a burst of gold. Designed by
contemporary artist Usman Haque, the installation tangled and rustled
before releasing the helium balloons which featured pixels containing
sensors, LEDs and microcontrollers.
The installation was commissioned by Moët & Chandon to celebrate the history of the brand in a 21st Century setting. Built in the grounds of Holland Park during the day, the installation was released up to 100 metres into the sky at approximately 8pm.
"We wanted to highlight our 10th anniversary with London Fashion Week by creating something fabulous for Londoners," said Caroline Warner, UK brand director Moët & Chandon. "London Fashion Week brings such a wonderful energy to the city but can only really be enjoyed by the fashion elite. We've been inspired by this energy to create something that everyone can be part of."

The
Moët Mirage mood bubbled over into a private event hosted by the brand
and the British Fashion Council in the dramatic setting of the Opera
House in Holland Park.
The event was themed "Moët Gold" in honour of an 18th Century pleasure garden
which
existed during the creation of the illustrious House of Moët in 1743.
Food was served from food stations in a gothic playground setting – the
centrepiece of which was a golden carousel.
The cuisine of
the Moët Mirage evening continued the theme of an 18th Century pleasure
garden but with a novel 21st Century twist. This saw venison and hog
rotisserie accompanied by a fine crêperie and delectable 24 carat gold
candy floss!
The Moët family flowed with Moët & Chandon Brut
Imperial from Swarovski Gold encrusted methuselahs, jeroboams, magnums
and minis throughout the night.
Music was mixed by Giles
Deacon and Steve Mackay of Pulp fame and a live set by the Misshapes
entertained luminaries including Claudia Schiffer, Hilary Riva, Anya
Hindmarch, Alexander McQueen and Jessica de Rothschild.
