The SLS Group was awarded the accolade at the NOEA’s Fifth Annual
Tribute Awards Ceremony for its management of the “Look of the City”
programme for Liverpool.
In collaboration with Liverpool City
Council the company “dressed” Liverpool throughout its year as European
Capital of Culture in 2008.
The brief comprised a diverse
programme of event promotion, profile raising and a "Liverpool Look and
Feel" experience for visitors.
“This is the award that we really
wanted to win," said Giles Stanford, CEO of SLS. "It gives recognition
to those who have achieved the highest level of excellence and made a
major contribution to the professionalism of the industry.
“A
vibrant look and brand were designed locally and then we became
responsible for every aspect of the city-wide programme. Brand
application had to be effective on a comprehensive range of locations
including building wraps, flags, way-finding, fence scrims, correx
signage, hanging banners, hoardings, stadiums, dock walls, gateways,
and entrance features.
SLS's creativity was evident on all
routes into the city, plus transport hubs, public areas, event venues
and pedestrian precincts. This was especially so around derelict
buildings, “grot spots” and notable building projects.
The NOEA
award recognised the company's imprint on Liverpool beyond 2008.
''Liverpool looks a better city now and this will impact on
opportunities for increased city revenues, and an enhanced visitor
experience,” Giles Stanford commented "plus a raised investor profile,
and the added benefit of an asset register of sites."
This year's NOEA Tribute Awards were hosted by The Oxford Belfry, Thame on 26 February.
