De
Boer, the leading international supplier of temporary accommodation for
large events and festivals, is moving its structures to London’s Hyde
Park with the onset of big-name summer rock and pop performances at the
royal park. Abigail Parkin (22 June'09) (Pictured - De Boer's Pink Galaxy structure)
Hyde
Park will host Wireless 2009, which features acts including Basement
Jaxx, Kanye West and Dizzee Rascal, and Hard Rock Calling 2009, whose
headliners include Bruce Springsteen, Killers, Neil Young and The
Pretenders.
De Boer’s structures will also be on hand as Hyde
Park welcomes chart-toppers Blur, who have recently reformed and are
embarking on their first live gigs for six years.
The live
events bolster the relationship between Brackley-based De Boer and its
long-standing client, Live Nation. De Boer’s temporary structures will
be put to a range of uses including as hospitality suites, production
offices, merchandising outlets, media centre, crew facilities and
first-aid tent. The company is also providing accommodation for five
separate bar areas being created in Hyde Park.
“De Boer has
established an excellent working relationship with Live Nation and has
been providing structures to Hyde Park’s headline-grabbing concerts for
many years," said De Boer key account manager, Kate Hunter. “The summer
festivals pose a number of logistical challenges, not least in relation
to access and delivery times to one of the busiest parts of central
London. De Boer and Live Nation work extremely well together in
ensuring preparations can be put in place while Hyde Park continues to
attract thousands of visitors every day.”
The royal park’s
hectic music schedule gets under way with Hard Rock Calling 2009,
running between June 26 and 28. Star performers include The Kooks,
James Morrison, Echo & the Bunnymen and Starsailor.
The
focus will then switch to Blur, who perform on July 2 and 3, and then
to Wireless 2009, whose stars on July 4 and 5 are scheduled to include
Kelly Rowland, Q-Tip, Flo Rida, Alesha Dixon and Saint Etienne,
together with dance act Diversity, winners of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
