Fashion checks in at May Fair   (Sitegeist)

Fashionistas at London Fashion Week (LFW) this September will converge on The May Fair Hotel once again as the venue retains its official hotel of LFW status.   Abigail Parkin (20 July'09)

This is the second successive year that The May Fair Hotel plays host and its tie-in ion with the British Fashion Council (BFC) covers six seasons over a three-year period.

Once again the hotel will look after the whims and wants of the travelling international fashion pack in London. The 25th anniversary of the BFC will give added impetus to this year's event and transform the hotel into a HQ for top designers, models and buyers all pushing the best of British design.

Not that the Mayfair-located hotel is a stranger to celebrity; its party spaces have been used by Joan Collins, Ronan Keating and a host of others. "We are delighted to be working with the BFC as the official hotel of LFW for the second season running," said Charles Oak, GM of The May Fair Hotel. "The relationship and our position as the official hotel has changed perception from what people thought we were to what we really are - a young, fashionable and connected central London hotel."

On the 25th anniversary of the BFC, Charles Oak continued: "London is unique in its style, but it is personality above all that differentiates our fabulous city. It is powerful and edgy, delicate and beautiful, striking, chic and cool. London is its own place, it is not beholden to a set of rules or restrictions. It is this freedom and dynamic personality that translates into a unique creative energy and passion that is so evident in its fashions and style. Fashion is ultimately about personality so it has no better home than London."
