InterContinental - Space Odyssey

InterContinental London Park Lane's £76 million investment means that the hotel
is positioned to attract a significant sector of the meetings and events industry to its new purpose-built spaces.
In August and September ''07 alone the venue hosted events for the Peace One Day party and Rod Stewart's wedding party, with Ocean Sky's private jet party touching down soon afterwards.
The range of events, business or social, lies in the versatility of InterContinental's spaces. At mezzanine level, the events floor unfurls into a lavish ballroom, six event suites and six meeting spaces. Access via the grand entrance adjacent to the hotel leads to the events floor via a dedicated sweeping staircase where organisers can project bespoke event imagery for arriving guests.
The contemporary look of the Ballroom with coffering ceiling and vast floor-to-ceiling windows is designed to enhance any themed dinner, gala event or stylish wedding.
Dark wood panelling, decorative lighting options and variable backlit columns create the event effect.
The Ballroom (pictured) can be divided into three sections. The six interconnecting event suites, each overlooking Park Lane and the Royal Parks, plus six meeting rooms overlooking Piccadilly, are also available for hire.
Beyond the venue, event organisers need to know that a competent event team is on hand. The event management team at InterContinental London Park Lane is led by director of events, Wendy Alders, who has worked with the InterContinental brand for over 13 years with a prior 20 years at the London Hilton on Park Lane. Her team has garnered experience gained hosting events attended by guests, ranging from Her Majesty the Queen to rock royalty such as Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney and U2.
The team's "concept to creation" service gives event organisers one point of call for every event enquiry and event managers are trained to personally guide the client from planning and preparation through to execution.
For repeat events, the same event manager will be allocated to the client, where possible.
Eve Everything should be communicated to the designated events manager," says Wendy Ald Alders. "The events manager should know what is important to the event, what the
orgorganiser wants to achieve and receive a precise timetable of events to include any
sp speeches or presentations. Follow this and all will be fine - communication is key!"
GenGeneral manager, Roland Fasel adds; “The team at InterContinental London Park Lane is is proud to provide a superior service, combined with the spectacular space and use of light lighting within our individual event spaces. We are delighted to take Park Lane events to new levels."

Club InterContinental
The reception area of the hotel's business centre is a spotlit, library-like cocoon in which business centre associate, Annika Asp, organises the work needs of guests. Behind her is an office for guests with facilities ranging from high-speed internet to laminating copier and private work spaces with computers.
Business needs are taken seriously here - but so is the need to unwind from work as evidenced by the hotel's luxury spa which features the UK's first "Spa Guestroom Suites."
For clothes-on relaxation, however, the new Club InterContinental unveils an altogether different relaxation enclave.
Perhaps its most imposing aspect is the seventh floor, floor-to-ceiling views of London’s historic landscapes and the Club is, unsurprisingly, popular with both business and leisure guests.
Part of the Club's attraction is the options it presents to snack on cakes, read an international selection of papers and magazines, choose DVDs or surf the complimentary internet - all in an airy, sophisticated 223 sq m space. The Club has been configured to fit the needs and activities of any guest. A central area allows visitors to dine as they take in the city views, while the far end of the lounge, with its plush sofas and chairs, offers a relaxing library-style spot. There are also more secluded seating areas, providing privacy for informal business meetings.
Club InterContinental hosts are also on hand to dispense their ‘insider’ knowledge of London experiences, from privileged shopping services to exclusive access to London’s cultural landscape. There's even a resident artist within the Club with London perspective on canvas!
Club membership is complimentary to guests staying in suites Non-suite guests can upgrade to Club membership for £80 per room, per night. Club package includes a buffet breakfast; afternoon tea with traditional scones, clotted cream and jam; and a two-hour premium champagne cocktail bar in the evening. Unlimited snacks, soft drinks, coffee and tea are also on offer throughout the day.
Club InterContinental and all its facilities remain at members’ disposal between the hours of 6:30am and 11:00pm, daily.
