Client taps publicity (Sitegeist)

In
a move reminiscent of British Airways’ famous "Face" ad in 1989,
Yorkshire Water decided that its latest awareness campaign would
literally put people in the picture. Sat Bal (2 Sept'09)
Design and communications agency Logistik was hired by Yorkshire Water to handle the creative brief which raised awareness around a current £19 million pipeline project.
Logistik
developed its client’s theme by temporarily etching a 150ft tap into
the slopes of the North Yorkshire countryside. This was animated with a
moving water drip thanks to Logistik choreographing 50 volunteers in
boiler suits to form the droplet of water.
The agency collaborated with Curb,
the world's first natural media company, to plan, create and deliver
this natural marketing solution. Curb’s involvement maximised the
impact of the campaign while preserving the sensitivity of the site.
Using
only biodegradable, cow-friendly, chalk Curb recreated the 150ft tap
from a precise specification. The addition of the moving volunteers
lent dynamism to the giant image while creating an unusual and
effective talking point.
The giant tap appeared on the slopes overlooking the Vale of Pickering
to help celebrate the construction of a new pipeline, which will
connect Scarborough and Filey with the Yorkshire Water grid for the
first time, offering an estimated 33,000 people a more reliable water
supply.
The client...
“We think it's important our customers understand the importance of
projects like this one and we hope the giant tap has helped us
highlight the investment we are making in the region and the
significant difference it will make both now and in the future." Leanda Trethewey, media relations manager, Yorkshire Water.
& the collaborators:
“This
project was an exciting creative challenge for us and a unique way to
connect with the local public on a different level. It marks the
significant extension of the Yorkshire Water grid and the investment in
the region in a visually engaging way, with a sense of surprise and
delight.” James Wilkins, group director, Logistik.
“The
idea of bringing a large scale natural advert to life, using the
employees of Yorkshire Water created a stunning visual, totally
relevant to what the client wanted to convey. We were thrilled to be a
part of this project.” Anthony Ganjou, managing director, Curb
