Chloe visits London

Visit London, the capital’s official visitor organisation, has strengthened its communications team for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with the creation of a new post to promote business and major events in London.

Chloe Couchman (pictured) takes up this post at the end of April '08 as Visit London's first "Business and Major Events Communications Manager."

Couchman is better known within the event industry as head of communications at global brand communications agency Imagination, where she has worked with clients including Ford Motor Company and Guinness Diageo.

She will work closely with the capital’s "Events for London" function which helped to bring America’s National Football League to Wembley for the first time last year. She has also been charged with promoting business events and visits to London, a key part of the tourism legacy from the Games.

“I'm so excited to be joining Visit London and will be reporting into Visit London’s communications director Ken Kelling,” says Couchman. “I’ve been at Imagination for eight years now and have worked with some incredible colleagues including Imagination’s CEO and founder, Gary Withers. I have also had the privilege to work with some really inspiring and innovative clients such as Guinness, Sony and Warner Brothers.”

The combination of her events experience and passion for London as a vibrant events centre prompted the move.
“I think my knowledge of the events industry and how live events sit within the whole marketing mix will stand me in great stead for my new role,” she explains.“ My passion has always been in events and the  engagement that they can create between an environment and a person or visitor. London is the greatest city on earth and has an unequalled profile on the world stage – especially when it comes to creating memorable events and experiences."

Couchman has notched up a decade of PR experience, with eight of those years in the event industry. "In the lead up to London 2012 we have a fantastic opportunity to secure major and business events for the capital," she insists, "and I can’t wait to get started!”

Visit London has announced that its 2008 Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 27 November 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall.
